We will be
producing a short snippet of a sci-fi sequence to prove to Netflix that we
can meet the standards they require to create their new sci-fi show to rival
Star Wars. Within the scenes will be a selection of live action, 3D animation
and green screen.

3D
animation using computer generated images will be used for the spaceships,
aliens, fleet, orbital defense and any scenes which include space and shots
of planet. Live action animation will be used in the last scenes were the
main character (live action) sees the Alien fleet (animated) coming down from
the sky.

selection of genre/style e.g.
The genre
of the project is Sci-fi and the style will be a kind of alien invasion type
film like independence day. The project fits within this genre and style
because our sequence has the same situation with a fleet of Alien spaceships
travelling and entering the Earth’s atmosphere. The fleet is led by a
mothership which is the hub for all the Aliens which follows along the same
lines as independence day. The mystery behind why the Aliens are coming to
Earth is also a big trope that links with other films within this genre like
District 9 or Independence day.

Storyline
based on a situation or series of events, or storyline based on character
The
narrative of the film is that a student begins to hear some kind of Alien
frequency while at college and starts to freak out which already can add character
development to why he can hear these frequencies. The narrative also follows
a fleet of spaceships in warp drive coming into our solar system and towards
earth. Tis raises the questions of why a fleet of aliens are headed for earth
and what do they want?
As the
fleet gets closer to earth an orbital defense system will get destroyed by a
spaceship and they will advance.
In the end
the student runs outside to find the fleet of ships descending from the sky
towards him.

Group treatment
Treatment
Our scene will consist of an alien ship flying through light speed, coming out the other end by Earth before getting shot at by the Orbital defence system. The mothership will start to land by Long Road College. Whilst this is happening, a student will run out of the classroom and start to run towards the landing zone and graze his arm against a wall which will show a green liquid pouring out of his arm. Then the scene will end with the student looking up to the mothership.
We will be using Maya to create the VFX and the animation for the project. The modelling work will be shared with one person creating the solar system that the aliens will come out of hyperspace to, one will be creating the cockpit inside the mothership, one will be creating the aliens heads, one will be creating the mothership itself and one will create the orbital defence system.
Once everything is created, we will begin the animation part of the project. To do the animation we will need to make it 2-3 minutes long with the scene being no longer that 5 minutes long. We will need to create a scene where the mothership will be going through a tunnel of light which will need to be texture to look like a ship going through light speed. We will need to add a backdrop to the mothership to make it look more realistic. The textures for the planets will need to look crisp to make the animation a success.
With the animation, we will tend to make the aliens talk to each other before they go through light speed. We will use a wide shot to show the audience what the ship look likes looking from the front. We the ship goes into light speed we will use an extreme close up of the alien's hand pushing the lever to start the countdown. Whilst the ship is going through light speed, we will use a point-of-view shot from the pilot perspective.
The story begins in a classroom with several students dotted around a pair of students are talking to a teacher. The sounds of the students slowly muffle out as an odd beeping begins to take over the sound. A student sits asleep in the corner of the class with his head on the desk. He’s wearing a black t-shirt and a pair of jeans as well as a pair of white trainers. The student has short hair and is rather tall. As more noise from the classroom fades out and the mysterious sound takes over the student wakes up and begins to look around the classroom he sees people speaking but can’t hear them.
An alien ship is seen floating in space random planets appear in the background. In the cockpit of the ship an alien sits it begins to push buttons and turn dials each one making its own distinctive sound. The ship is seen floating in space once more but more ships slowly come into vision an entire fleet of spaceships is revealed with a mothership at the centre much larger and menacing than the others.
An orbital defence system near the moon extends its panels and begins to move positioning itself towards the fleet. As the orbital defence system charges up the fleet get closer to the planet. The orbital defence system charges and fires a shot at the fleet one fighter ship is hit out of the many other ships the same ship takes no damage and fires back at the orbital defence system incinerating it in the blast. The ship continues its path towards earth.
The student hears nothing but the deafening sound of the alien beeping. The student slowly becomes more distressed by the noise and runs out into the corridor. He then runs down the corridor cupping his hands over his ears to try and stop the sound going through him. He runs outside and onto a field the deafening noise stops.
As the student looks up he sees the entire alien fleet descending from the sky straight towards him.
For the visual effects within our segment we will use a variety of different programs to create the effects. For the effect of the warp drive as the Alien fleet comes towards earth will be achieved using after effects the scenes were the Alien fleet descends from the sky will be achieved using premiere pro. The fleet will be green screened and superimposed onto the scene to give the desired effect of the fleet descending. All scenes in space and of the Aliens and their fleet will be created using MAYA and the digital camera within the program to capture all the scenes.

|
Due to the winter environment; the exterior filming would be plagued with chilly british weather, which could present
health and safety risks such as catching colds and mild hypothermia. To combat this, staff and actors will be encouraged to wear thick clothing.
The tripod presents a health and safety issue on potentially snowy ground, as the slippery terrain might put the equipment
at increased risk of falling over, breaking, and injuring people standing in its way.
The potential of snow presents a risk of slipping.
